Why Take Gymnastics?

GAGE is dedicated to improving children's fitness and teaching them the importance of good health all in a fun positive atmosphere.  Besides being one of the most exciting and fulfilling of all sports, gymnastics helps shape the whole person.  This is a sport that develops physical strength, speed, grace, and balance.  It also promotes perseverance, pride of accomplishment, discipline, and self confidence.

Study after study confirms that kids involved in sports, including gymnastics, are more likely to stay away from drugs, score higher on achievement tests, stay in school, have greater self-esteem, and live a healthier lifestyle.  Show me a child in a healthy athletic environment and I’ll show you a child developing coordination, interpersonal relationship skills, perseverance, discipline, commitment, humor, perspective, teamwork, humility, and leadership.  And the kids think they’re just having FUN!

Dragon Funtime Gymnastics Curriculum

Our new and improved Dragon Funtime Gymnastics curriculum is based on the USAG Jr. Olympic Program, as well as our 26 years of experience teaching gymnastics to children.  The Dragon Funtime curriculum is designed to provide a  non-competitive, achievement-oriented program of progressive skills, conditioning, and flexibility.  Your child will be certain of her/his progress because of the many accomplishment awards and the individual progress report passed out each session.

Our Teachers

Our teachers are specially selected and trained to safely bring out the best in each child by encouraging each child to exceed their perceived limitations.  Monthly lesson plans are developed by the recreational director and men’s team coach, Wally Meierarend.   He’s the Missouri State Director for Men’s Gymnastics and  has been with GAGE for  18 years.

Which Class?

We use school grades as the primary variable for determining your child’s class time.  After looking at each student’s experience and skill level, we subdivide the class into logical, homogenous training groups.

What to Wear to Class?

Girls should wear a leotard.  Boys should wear a T-shirt & gym shorts.  Warm-up suits or sweats are fine for cooler weather.  Footwear should be socks or bare feet.  Please Note:

• No loose or baggy clothing
• No gum in the facility
• Long hair tied back
• No jewelry
• No food or drink in gym
• Please leave valuables at home

How Many Classes Per Week?

We have a little different view than most clubs on this subject.  For younger or beginning gymnasts, we recommend one class per week.  The decision to come two or more times per week is very personal and we recommend considering more than once per week only after your child has shown an obvious desire for faster progress.  Your program director will be glad to discuss the merits of such a decision should that time come.

Make-UP Policy

There are no make-ups or refunds for classes unattended.  If a class is missed, you will receive a “miss you” card in the mail.  This free pass to our Friday evening Bump City may be used at your convenience.

SIX 8-WEEK SESSIONS PER YEAR:  We have a year round program divided into six sessions.  Please see our “How To” Handbook. FAMILY DISCOUNT:  Remember, at GAGE, only the largest tuition in your family pays full price regardless of the program.  ALL additional tuitions are discounted $10 per class (applies only to tuition based programs).  REGISTRATION FEE:  This is a flat, $35 per family, fee which is due upon INITIAL REGISTRATION and on your ANNIVERSARY DATE thereafter.  This fee defrays administrative expenses and offers family members discounts on various GAGE activities.
