Sea Dragon Swim Class Info
Curriculum Improvements
The NEW Sea Dragon curriculum will focus on tow objectives:
- Individual Achievements ('Sea-Lebrations' as we call them) will be the focus of recognition and not the completion of a level.
- The curriculum will be presented in a simple and logical manner so the parent can follow along as the child's swimming skills advance.
Students now register by age rather than a level. Progress is tracked and recognized by milestones we call "Sea-Lebrations".
A "Sea-Lebration" does NOT denote a 'level', but rather a personal achievement. Although there is a logical order to the "Sea-Lebrations", they may be achieved
in any order which eliminates 'sticking points'. The daily lesson plans are structured around four easy categories of movement:
comfort & safety (includes floating), legs (kicking), arms (stroking) and breathing.
Class Schedule Options
Summer Quick-Start sessions - Mid-May through July
A way to get a jump on summer, classes are held in three week sessions, a 40 minute class is held 2 times each week. Morning
and evening class times are available. Friday will be used as a make-up day if it is necessary for us to cancel a class due to lightning.
Unless notified by phone, classes will be held if it is raining.
Once A Week Classes
Classes are held once a week for 40 minutes. Highly suggested to maintain skills and safety awareness. Children who swim
most of the year are proven to be stronger and have healthier bodies. Weekly attendance is important not only to enable students
to learn and retain good swimming ability, but also to increase their self-confidence and to develop their social skills by sharing the
pool with other children.
